Power Words Chapter 7 Defined
  1. ARP – Address Resolution Protocol.
  2. APIPA – Automated Private IP Addressing.
  3. Blocks – Restriction of data flow.
  4. BOOTP – Bootstrap Protocol.
  5. Broadcast - The simultaneous transmission of the same message to multiple recipients.
  6. CIDR – Class Inter-Domain Routing.
  7. Datagram – Basic transfer unit associated with a packet-switched network.
  8. Default Gateway – the node in a computer network using the internet protocol suite that serves as the forwarding host.
  9. DHCP lease – Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol lease.
  10. Dotted Decimal Notation – a presentation format for numerical data expressed as a string of decimal numbers each separated by a full stop.
  11. Dynamic Addressing – a temporary IP address that is assigned to a computing device or node when it's connected to a network.
  12. DHCP – Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
  13. Host ID – the portion of an IP address that uniquely identifies a host on a given TCP/IP network.
  14. Ifconfig – Unix and Linux command line utility that is used to display and manage the IP address assigned to the machine it is running in.
