Chapter 27 - Printers and Multi-function Devices
- Calibration - Uses hardware to generate an international color consortium color profile
- Color Depth – Defines the number of bits of information the scanner can use to describe a pixel
- Consumables – Materials used by printers including paper, ink, ribbons, and toner cartridges
- Dot Matrix Printer – Printer that creates each character from an array of dots
- Dots Per Inch – Higher numbers mean the dots are closer together
- Erase Lamp – Component inside the laser printer that uses like to make it work properly
- Flatbed Scanner – Runs a bright light along the length of the tray to capture an image
- Fuser Assembly – Mechanism in a laser printer that uses two rollers to fuse toner paper to print
- Gearbox – Combine multiple gears for performing mechanical functions in a printer
- Laser – Acts as the writing mechanism for the printer
- Imaging Drum – It attracts particles to make the laser create an image
- Imaging Process – Seven steps processing, charging, exposing, developing, transfer, fuse, clean
- Impact Printer – Used pins and inked ribbons to print text or images on a piece of paper
- Laser Printer – Electro photographic printer in which laser is used as the light source
- Network Printer- Printer that connects directly to a network
- Pages Per Minute – Speed of a printer
- Pickup Roller – Begins the printing process by grabbing paper to be printed and passing it over
- Print Server – Server, or standalone network that shares access to the printer over a network
- Print wire – Grid of tiny Pins that strike the ribbon printer to create an image
- Print head – Case that holds the Print ware in a dot matrix printer
